Long-Term Mission Opps

MSI needs long-term volunteers to fill specific needs overseas. Individuals such as teachers, medical professionals, construction craftsmen and various other skills are needed. Following an expression of interest, specific steps would be required to insure the person desiring to serve with MSI is like-minded with the purpose, mission and theological beliefs of MSI.

Individuals seeking such an opportunity are required to raise their individual support to cover any and all expenses. Through missionary service with MSI, many individuals have found the support raising process beneficial in the growing of their faith and their ability to share their commitment to missions with other.

The duration of an individual’s term of service can vary but it is usually necessary to commit to at least six months on the field. It is not likely someone can become acclimated to a new environment and culture in a period shorter than this. MSI wants the missions experience to be a blessing to the person going and to those with whom they come in contact. It takes time to develop relationships with the indigenous people. Evangelism opportunities will come as those relationships grow. Whether the platform for service is medicine, youth sports activities, education, or the care of orphaned/abandoned children, it takes time to connect with the people whom you seek to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

If you believe God is calling you to missions, whatever your talents, professional skills or abilities, we would advise that you seek the Lord’s guidance as to what He would have you do. The goal of missions is to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ to a lost and hurting world. While you may not be a doctor, with the ability to treat patients at a remote village clinic, you might find that you are able to share Bible stories through an interpreter using a story cloth. Or, you can help with existing programs at an existing mission site. It takes many skills to achieve MSI’s goals. What you may see as un-important or not necessary may prove to be quite valuable on the missions field.
