We reached home shortly before midnight, after close to nine hours on the road plus a flight across the Java Sea. Our bodies were weary and spent, but our hearts felt full, and it wasn't 24 hours before my son asked if we'll be going again next year. THANK YOU for praying for the Kids Who Care team and our journey to the Slippery Rock children's home as part of the April to May 2017 Prayer Fellowship.

A special gift this trip was brand new Bibles for the children and teenagers who live at the home, plus four Bibles for new believers in the community who have recently been baptized! We loved presenting each Bible and praying with the child who received it. Please pray that God's Word will take root in the hearts of the young people growing up in the children's home. Every evening, we gathered in the one-room church building for games, songs, and sharing from life and from God's Word.

In addition to the Bibles, new mattresses were purchased thanks to the financial gifts that were sent to Kids Who Care! We were also able to purchase lunch boxes, supplies for the trip and cover many costs including renting buses for the beach trip. Not only that, but we will be sending money to build a low retaining wall around the property to combat the rainy season and the problem of flooding. We are so grateful for your generosity and for your prayers.

Throughout the five days, I had a real sense that people were covering our trip in prayer! It was truly a fantastic trip. Praise God for the light that is shining in a city where followers of Jesus are such a small minority. Please pray for God's ongoing protection over this special place and all who live there, that they might grow up in Him and see a movement of the Gospel that impacts their city as well as the tribal villages in the mountains from where most of the children have come.

Years ago, a Mustard Seed donor funded the installation of a fish pond on the property. We enjoyed taking part in the activities of catching, cleaning, cooking, and most of all, eating the fresh fish.
