Reflection on Mother's Day from a TransformNation Student

We're happy to share with you a special Mother's Day from one of our TransformNation students, Michael (pictured below is Michael's Mom):

Marius' Mom

To all my friends wherever you are across the earth,

No matter where we find ourselves today, we must never forget where, and from whom, we have come. We need to give thanks for our mothers. Let us remember the women who never let an hour pass without remembering us. We are their flesh and blood. Think of all that they have sacrificed for us: they have gone without food so that we could be fed; they have gone without sleep so that we could rest; they have gone without new clothes so that we could be afforded the opportunity to gain an education. They have given up so much so that we could live well and have a bright future. From their villages they walk carrying heavy loads of vegetables to sell in the market. When they enter the town they always face challenges. They endure cold, heat, hunger, thirst and weariness; all to make a few rupiahs and return home. They scraped and saved every rupiah in order to help us get an education. They went through hell just to give us a bite to eat. I don’t mean to imply that they didn’t want new clothes to wear. Of course they did! But they always put us first. They would never consider elevating their own happiness before their children finish their education. They fought and struggled for us!

My friends, you must know that our mothers’ struggles are astonishing! Their love is incredible. Their hope is in our future. We will never be able to repay them for all that they have done for us. Let us pray for them always: for their health and that God would give them long lives.

To all the mothers, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
