EMBRACING THE NEW YEAR: Messenger of Love and Grace
As we draw near to the end of this eventful year, I find myself looking back on our school’s chosen theme, “Winners,” and how it has resonated with our journey as educators. Entrusted with not only teaching, but also assisting our dedicated school principal, I’m filled with gratitude for the transformative experiences we’ve shared.
I was privileged to lead training sessions for the new teachers who joined our teaching family. My task seemed straightforward: introduce them to our school, explain our vision and mission, and instill our cherished core values.
During one of these sessions, while sharing our school’s core values, something extraordinary happened; beyond mere words or explanation. Right there in the middle of our training materials, I had a personal encounter with Jesus. Our school’s primary objective came sharply into focus: to disseminate and amplify the Word of God, nurturing disciples through education, family, and community. This is our mission, our purpose.
In an unplanned and unrehearsed moment, I found myself conveying to these fresh, enthusiastic educators a profound truth. We, as teachers, are instruments in a grander design. We are channels through which the boundless grace and love of God flow. Whether we are shaping young minds or fostering bonds within our community, our role is pivotal.
In the solitude of reflection, I realized that what I had experienced during that training session was indeed a divine calling. It was God’s voice speaking to me through the very event I had been leading. This revelation profoundly transformed my perspective as a Christian teacher who had already felt and embraced the love and grace of God.
This new perspective translated into tangible changes in my approach to teaching. During the next semester, I found myself more patient, more loving, and embracing each child as they were: imperfections and all. I found myself wholeheartedly embracing their individual circumstances, tirelessly working to help them grasp the profound truth that they are truly precious in the eyes of God.
To the Mustard Seed family who have supported me on this transformative journey, thank you for your unwavering love and steadfast prayers. Together, we have not only nurtured young minds but also sown seeds of hope, compassion, and wisdom. As we gather with loved ones to celebrate the birth of Christ, let us remember the profound impact we can have when we embrace our role as messengers of love and grace.
May the New Year bring you joy, peace, and the reminder that we are all winners in the eyes of a loving God who entrusted us with the precious gift of education.
