The Meaning of Family Day

at School

We hope that this event will make the bond between parents and their children stronger…” Siela, the Spice Island's School Principal

Parents and teachers have a common goal: to facilitate the best educational experience possible for their children. One of the keys to parents and teachers working together is to have good communication. When parents and teachers communicate with one another, they are able to work together towards the children’s success in school.

It is for this reason that Mustard Seed held an annual family day celebration earlier this month at our newly opened kindergarten on the Spice Island. “We live in busy times. Most of the time, parents are too busy or too tired to spend time playing with their children after they finish school. We hope that this event will make the bond between parents and their children stronger, and elevate the cooperation between teachers and parents,” said Siela, the principal of the school.

During the event, the teachers at this school, all graduates of the TransformNation program, designed games that fostered relationship building and team work. For instance, they blindfolded the parents so they had to find their children only by listening for the sound of their voice.

Another game was designed to facilitate team building by transferring a rubber band back and forth using only straws in their mouths. All of the parents and students enjoyed playing the games and spending time together. They hope that this kind of event will continue each year.
