The Power of A Letter

One letter. Who would have thought that something so simple and easy could actually make a difference?

Did you know that in villages where Mustard Seed serves, many children have never received a letter or read a book?

Can you imagine that some children have never heard the words “I love you”?

Did you know that some teenagers have never heard encouraging words like, “You’ve got this!” or “You’re never far from my thoughts”?

Mustard Seed believes that words are powerful. So powerful that God used them to create the world. That’s why we ask our sponsors to write words of encouragement and send letters to the children and students they sponsor.

“Joy and energy are transferred in every word they write,” said Vani (16) who has been corresponding with her sponsors since she was just a little girl.

“For me, their letters are very important,” said Elisa, a TransformNation (TfN) intern. “Support and love from them are like gifts from God. I feel loved. And because I know somebody loves me, it energizes me to focus on my purpose and give the love back to the children I serve.”

“I would feel empty without their letters. Every word my sponsor wrote spoke to me. It motivated me to build my character as I strive to become an excellent teacher,” said Mario, a TfN intern.

Over the years, the relationships built have not only impacted their emotional well-being but serve as a reminder that God has placed purpose in their lives. Both Elisa and Mario feel that the relationship with their sponsors fuelled them to understand the importance of the emotional support they can provide as teachers to the children and students they serve.
