Transforming Lives Across Indonesia
In the heart of Indonesia, where jungles and islands are homes to communities, seeds of hope are being sown—and lives are being transformed. Guided by Galatians 6:8b-9, "Whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" Mustard Seed International has spent the past year tirelessly working to bring light to underserved communities. This is not just a report. We are living out God's story: the story of transformation and hope for a brighter future.
Education and Community Impact
Four new education initiatives have sprung to life in the island of Sumba, Borneo, and the Papuan Highland. Each one is an opportunity in areas where quality education was once out of reach. In Mustard Seed’s Children’s Homes, 105 children continue to receive love and care, while their days are filled with learning and praying. Beyond the homes, 459 young people have discovered their potential through mentorship and life-skills training, equipping them to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
The backbone of this movement? The teachers. While 446 Christian educators receive continuous support to guide their students with love and wisdom, 75 teachers-in-training are being molded into future leaders through the TransformNation (TfN) Program.
Regional Highlights
In the Papuan Highlands, a transformation is underway. At Tirta’s Village School, the hum of newly installed solar panels and the connectivity brought by internet access symbolize progress. Here, 134 students are preparing for a future filled with promise, with high school programs on the horizon. A short distance away, Harta’s Village School has become a cornerstone of its community. With operational permits secured, the school is abuzz with plans for a student dormitory—a project driven by the passionate support of local families.
Further into the highlands, Wana Walinge stands as a testament to the power of partnerships. In this remote village, 75 children now experience the life-changing impact of Christian education, thanks to the collaboration between the Lab School and a partner school.
On the island of Borneo, the spirit of renewal has reached Slippery Rock, where two animistic communities are now embracing the gift of education. Meanwhile, over on Mentawai Island, the completion of a school building and computer lab has created a sanctuary of learning for 70 students and 10 dedicated teachers.
The story continues on Sumba Island, where the rhythm of construction echoes the rhythm of progress. Two newly opened classrooms and more under construction serve as the heart of a network of 25 village schools, impacting 814 children who now dream bigger dreams. On Java, MSI’s Lab School serves as a hub for innovation, empowering 1,431 students and paving the way for a new generation of leaders through initiatives like the TfN Program, which recently welcomed 12 eager trainees to its ranks.
Broader Reach and Impact
Across Indonesia, 36 TfN interns are lighting up village schools, touching lives with their passion and the good news. 93 communities are rising with renewed hope, and the ripple effects of Mustard Seed’s work have reached 4,626 children, each one discovering their God-given potential. In total, 5,111 people have become part of this growing movement, their lives interwoven with the mission of transformation.
