Dear friends of Mustard Seed, My name is Johann, and I’ve recently stepped into the role of Executive Director of Mustard Seed International. Although this is a new role, my history with MSI goes back to 2011 when my wife and I served with our field team in Indonesia for a couple of years. Since returning to the US, I’ve stayed engaged as a board member, and in recent months felt God’s invitation to step into this role.

We have an exciting opportunity ahead of us. The work in Indonesia is growing, with more students being given access to high-quality education and Christian discipleship as new schools are established and existing schools expand. The TransformNation Teacher-Training Program continues to disciple and train the next generations of teachers who carry God’s love and the gift of education out to villages and towns all over the country. The team continues to evolve its programs and efforts to meet the current needs of the students and communities in Indonesia.

Here in North America, we want to continue to support this work by providing a foundation of prayer and investing in the teachers, schools, and programs that we believe will transform communities across the country. When we sponsor a teacher who will spend years discipling and educating kids in under-resourced areas, one changed life leads to many changed lives. When we fund a new school or materials, we can help transform a whole community. We plant these seeds with the expectation of the parable in Matthew 13:31–32.

Many of you have been our partners in this work for many, many years, while others have chosen to come alongside more recently. Thank you. Your faithfulness is inspiring, and your steadfastness has sustained this ministry. We hope that the stories and testimonies we share convey the impact of your support: the joy and hope you are bringing to kids, teachers, and communities across Indonesia. We pray that you are encouraged in your walk with God as you continue to journey with us.
