STORIES FROM THE FIELD

As we head toward Easter, let’s realize that Easter is so much greater than just a holiday. It is a holy day, the foundation of Christianity. Let’s continue to be amazed and thankful for all that Jesus did for us. He was betrayed, beaten, and crucified on the cross. Jesus had power that He could have used to stop all the pain and humiliation that He experienced. Because of His amazing love that He has for all of us, He willingly died on the cross. Jesus paid the price for our sins. When we ask Jesus to be our Savior and Lord, we are forgiven of all our failures and then have the Holy Spirit to give us the spiritual power to follow and serve Jesus for the rest of our lives.

Think about what it would have been like for Jesus’ disciples after Jesus was crucified. They would have been greatly discouraged, wondering if they might be killed like Jesus was. As the disciples gather in what was called “The Upper Room,” they are probably wondering if the soldiers would come and arrest and crucify them just like they killed Jesus.

But after a few days, the disciples go out to share the life-changing message that Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Most of those disciples invest the rest of their lives sharing the Best News in the universe, that Jesus is Savior and Lord. Most of Jesus’ disciples are executed because of their faith in Christ. One day Peter is speaking to the rulers in Jerusalem, and he shares the following words in Acts 4:13: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no greater name under Heaven, given to men by which we must be saved.”

Those who were listening were amazed by his testimony. They told Peter and John not to tell others about Jesus and to stop spreading the Gospel. Both Peter and John refuse to stop sharing the Best News about Jesus. We read in Acts 4:19-20: “But Peter and John replied: ‘Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.’”

So today and every day, let’s continue to be amazed by the awesome resurrection of Jesus. He defeated sin and death and reigns now as the Savior of the world. Let’s also show the difference by loving Jesus unconditionally and serving Him faithfully. And let’s share the Best News about Jesus with others through our words and the way we live.

I am so thankful that I had friends in school who came my way to share Jesus. Their Christian lives spoke powerfully to me. Plus they invited me to places where I could hear the Gospel and see the life of Jesus shine through them by the way they lived.

Thank you, Lord!! Let’s celebrate Easter every day by serving and sharing Jesus!!
